Top 5 Pilates Core Exercises You Can Do From Home! To Tone & Strengthen!

Everyone knows by now that Pilates is amazing for strengthening and toning your core! Pilates has been a game changer for me; my stomach has never felt so toned, and I have never felt stronger! This is because I regularly do Pilates core exercises, pretty much up to 5 times per week, and over time I have been able to up the intensity so that my body gets stronger and more toned.

And it's not just about looking great! Having a stronger core is really important for the following reasons:

  • A strong core protects your spine and therefore helps to improve your posture

  • A stronger core helps to alleviate back pain

  • Having a stronger core is helpful when doing other types of higher impact workouts and sports, as it helps to avoid injury

  • If you are postpartum, recovery is so much easier if you had a strong core to begin with

  • As you age, you lose your balance; a stronger core helps to prevent falls

  • A strong core makes everyday movements such as picking up heavy objects so much easier

Basically, having a strong core is something you need to consider and incorporate into your workouts. If you're not doing exercises to strengthen your core, I hope the above inspires you to start today! Plus, don't forget the tiny fact that you also look and FEEL amazing! 😁

But I am a full-time Pilates instructor with a lot of knowledge and experience. What if you are a total beginner? Where do you start with strengthening your core?

Where to start?

There are so many free Pilates workouts out there that you can choose to follow; however, a lot of them do not fully explain why you are doing specific exercises. I want you to do an exercise with intention. To understand WHY you are doing this specific exercise and what part of your core you are targeting. This is why I created this free Pilates tutorial for you on YouTube!

I go through 5 exercises that you should practise regularly, how many to do and how often, why you should do them, and what part of your core you are targeting!

These 5 exercises are:

  • The Pilates Hundreds

  • The Roll Up

  • Single Leg Stretch

  • The Spine Twist

  • Planks

These are classical Pilates exercises which I'd love for you to master, to feel amazing and reap the benefits!
